Henry Sotelo is a practicing attorney in Northern Nevada. He has been a licensed attorney in Nevada since 1987, practicing mostly in the area of criminal law.  Sotelo has been teaching law in Northern Nevada for over 20 years at Truckee Meadows Community College and is now Director of the Paralegal Program.  Sotelo has served as a Washoe County Deputy District Attorney and as a Reno Deputy City Attorney Prosecutor. 

Henry currently serves as one of the City of Reno Legal Defenders practicing criminal defense. He has contributed to the creation and growth of three of Reno Municipal Court’s Specialty Courts: The Fresh Start Therapeutic Court, CAMO-RENO Veterans Court, and The Community Court.  Sotelo also currently serves as a City of Reno Administrative Hearing Officer for Code Violation Appeals. Sotelo has also served as a Pro Tempore Judge in Reno Municipal Court.

Additionally, Henry Sotelo served on the City of Reno Human Rights Commission, and currently serves on the Washoe County Sheriff’s Community Outreach Committee and the Washoe County Behavioral Health Advisory Board. Sotelo donates legal hours as Pro Bono Adviser to the Domestic Violence Resource Center. He currently writes the legal column “Due Process” for ThisIsReno.com which seeks to inform the general public about legal issues relevant to Northern Nevada resident’s daily lives.

Sotelo graduated from the University of Nevada Reno in 1984 with a Journalism degree and later earned a Juris Doctorate from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento in 1987.
